Annie Reid

'When Otter Comes Healing', 25
Annie Reid is a third generation California artist and Trinidad resident of nearly 40 years. She works from a small studio cabin surrounded by a forest of redwood, firs, and spruce. "Each day I spend time in nature, a guest of the plants and animals, birds and streams, ocean and weather. Interpreting this interaction through my art allows me to find my place in the world. My art is simply how I relate to the world."

Currently on exhibit are Reid's works titled ‘Sheltered in Place’, traditional oil paintings and prints recently completed at her studio during the 2020 lock down.
As the world ordered shutdowns this spring, Reid grounded her work in the strength of the local coastline and the beauty of personal visions. Central to the exhibit is ‘When Otters Came Healing’, a large (25x25”) print on heavy acid-free Hahnemuhle watercolor paper. She worked with Joseph Wilhelm of Meridian Fine Art to capture a limited edition series from her digital painting. A pioneer north-coast digital painter, Reid began working in the medium in the early nineties. Her digital paintings evolve from individual brushstrokes, in much the same manner as her traditional oils, embracing a style that is intimately her own.

Included in this exhibit are several of Reid’s small oil on linen seascapes, painted on location a short distance from her north coast studio as the world ‘Sheltered in Place’.
