Drew Forsell
Drew Forsell is a photographer, printmaker and jewelry designer. His most influential years were spent on islands from Maine to Hawaii and he rarely strays far from a coast. He holds a BFA in fine art from Humboldt State University and a secondary degree from UW Seattle in Graphic Design. He recently relocated to the North Coast after a 20 year career as a graphic designer, art director, and instructor at the University of Washington.
His jewelry is inspired by the sea and his line of jewel encrusted pieces are made of hammered sterling silver, freshwater pearls, and semi precious gemstones - all woven together with fine sterling silver wire and dusted with Austrian crystal and 14k gold & silver lined seed beads.
Drew is also an avid gardener, Washington State Master Gardener, plant collector, and traveler. Many of his botanical photographs are accentuated by the application of numerous topcoats of acrylic, pigments and glazes. This process gives them a crazed surface patina similar to that seen in raku pottery. The images are mounted to archival gesso-board and then to a beechwood frame.
